I spotted this smaller orange damselfly, and before I could even focus my camera, the blue and green Rambur’s Forktail damselfly swooped in and bit his head off.  I started thinking that most photographers probably don’t have to worry about missing the shot because their subject gets eaten.  But then I thought of some of the photographs that my friend Jen takes, and I’ll bet it happens to her once in a while.  But you’d definitely get a bad reputation if it happened a lot and you were a portrait photographer.

To me it looks like he’s eating a raisin.

If the insect violence pictured here bothers you, then try to pretend that this is a photograph of two bugs kissing.  If that doesn’t work because you’re bothered by the thought of inter-species romance, then I can’t help you.

I believe this is a Rambur’s Forktail damselfly.
