Limekiln State Park (in Big Sur, California) has significantly recovered from the fire that caused it to close. This was a fantastic (and easy and short) shady hike.

A few minutes of hiking after seeing the mother bear, some hikers pointed out these bear cubs, one black and one brown. One of them called out constantly. I didn’t want to get close to the cubs, in part because I didn’t want to give Mom a reason to attack, but mostly because I didn’t want the cubs to start to think that being close to humans was a good idea.
